Spearmint, with a slightly less intense flavor than peppermint, is easy and rewarding to grow. Give it enough water, and it will produce refreshingly pungent leaves in great quantities. Use them in salads, and sauces, and beverages, cold or hot. Harvest and dry them to make teas, infusions, and tinctures. When it flowers, it will attract pollinators galore. In the right conditions, spearmint will propagate itself by sending out runners, so if you have space you’d prefer to reserve for other plants, it’s best to plant it in a large pot or otherwise contain it.
