Nestled under their protective covering, our collective’s fava beans are starting to flower! Dennis Barnebey, whose station at last year’s HGNC Plant Fair was near the bed where these grew last year, said that people kept asking him what those striking-looking plants were, so I thought I’d offer a photo of their first blossoms. We hope to share these in the garden in late May or early June when they have become big, fat pods of beans.
