When Amma Thomas was a very little girl, her mother, Cherron Perry-Thomas, often brought with her as she helped to clear out the once-neglected space at the corner of Wayne Avenue and Hansberry Street that finally became Hansberry Garden & Nature Center. The family has remained active in the garden in the years since. Now Amma is all grown up and the co-owner, with Cherron, of Plant and People, a boutique in West Philadelphia that aims to promote healing through plants. And the pair will be featured speakers at the 2024 PHS Flower Show, the world’s oldest and largest indoor horticultural event.
Cherron and Amma will give a presentation titled “Unity in the Community: Connecting Through Plants” at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, as part of PHS’s “Know to Grow” speaker series. If you can’t make the presentation or just can’t wait to know more, check out this feature on the PHS website. Congratulations, Cherron and Amma!
