Hansberry Garden has only two more Tend the Garden Days scheduled for this fall — one this Saturday, Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to noon, and another on Saturday, Oct. 20, at the same time of day.
If you are a member and haven’t attended the three Tend the Garden Days required by the membership agreement of each member who is able, this weekend and next month’s work day represent your last chances!
One of our primary tasks at this Tend the Garden Day will be moving items from the old white metal shed to our lovely new shed, which was built for us by the Restorative Justice Project of the Mural Arts Program. We’ll need people to help organize, so it’s an especially good opportunity for those who have trouble with tasks that are physically more demanding. We’ll also be weeding — and it should be pretty easy work, with the ground as saturated as it is.
Dennis Barnebey has agreed to marshal our efforts. Since there’s a hurricane approaching the Atlantic Coast, there’s a pretty good chance that rain will cancel these plans. Dennis will determine whether we can proceed, so keep your eyes peeled for an email from him Saturday morning if it looks like rain.
