Lucy Morningstar to Dedicate the Dr. Edward Chun Amphitheater to HGNC Community
On Sunday, Oct. 20, at 3 p.m. (rain date: Oct. 27 at the same time) Hansberry Garden and Nature Center will formally dedicate its Dr. Edward Chun amphitheater.
The program will begin with a brief ceremony recognizing the late Dr. Chun, who donated funds for its construction, as well as the architect who designed the structure and builder who brought the project to fruition.
The afternoon will conclude with a performance by folk-rock/reggae artist Lucy Morningstar, accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Brian Francis.
Captivating audiences with lyrical story-telling, the music of Lucy Morningstar refreshes ears with vigorous acoustic guitar playing and a potent melodic voice. Her compositions have been described as a unique blend of folk and rock with rich undertones of reggae and funk grooves. Morningstar has been acknowledged for her unfiltered poetic lyrics, imaginative soundscapes and inspiring energy.
A singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Morningstar has penned songs about cooperative environmentalism and about the Hawaiian Islands. Both topics resonate with the interests of Dr. Chun, who was introduced to Hansberry Garden as a member of Germantown Center in the Park‘s Senior Environment Corps.
“Bringing all different types of spirits together for a common cause is something I appreciate more and more as I share beautiful vibes and my love of music while performing,” says Morningstar.
