This Saturday, Aug. 19, at 4 p.m., a movement meditation guided by dancer, choreographer and HGNC Board Member Megan Bridge will precede Hansberry Garden & Nature Center’s monthly potluck dinner.

Our potluck dinners, held on the third Saturday of each month at 5 p.m., are open to friends and neighbors of the garden as well as active members. The HGNC Events Committee is recruiting members of the garden to present workshops in the hour before each potluck. The August workshop will be offered by Events Committee Co-Chair Megan Bridge, who says,

“Drop into your body and awaken your physical senses. Experience the garden through your moving body during this simple movement meditation.”

Megan is a dancer, choreographer, and dance writer who co-directs <fidget>, a performance space and arts research laboratory in Kensington. As a professional dancer, she has performed the work of choreographers and companies such as Group Motion, Jerome Bel, Willi Dorner, Lucinda Childs, anonymous bodies, Headlong Dance Theater, Susan Rethorst, and readySetGO, and has taken workshops with Deborah Hay, Xavier LeRoy, Miguel Gutierrez, and Jan Fabre. She has toured as a dancer to Germany, Austria, South Africa, Poland, Lithuania, Japan, Cyprus, and Bulgaria. Bridge has received funding support from the Leeway Foundation, the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, the Puffin Foundation, the Philadelphia Cultural Fund, Penn PAT, and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. She has taught dance at universities throughout the Philadelphia area.
